MESSAGE ON THE 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER (YR B)

Friday 3rd May 2024

My dear people,

I would like to start this weekly message by sincerely thanking everyone who made our Parish Feast Day celebrations the great success that it was. Firstly, I would like to thank the organisers of the night, in particular Sonny and Jenny Mallia, the wonderful team who helped them, as well as members of the Social Committee. The result which we saw on the night was testimony to all the hard work put into organising the event. It was wonderful to get a snapshot of Maltese culture through their food, their music, and a live band. Our parish is truly blessed by God with wonderful people who can work together for his greater glory. For that, I am sincerely grateful. We look forward to the next cultural night in the parish.

Our Parish Town Hall for 2024 will take place on Thursday 9th May at 7.00pm in the church meeting room. The first aim of the Town Hall is to officially present to you our financial position as at the end of 2023. Our Parish Accountant, Mr Bernard Negline, will be here to present the figures and answer any questions you may have. We will also reflect on other activities for 2024, discuss current activities and future initiatives in relation to missionary renewal.  We will conclude with a discussion on our planned expansion of the church, and I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

It was wonderful to have a new ministry start in the parish last Sunday. Ablaze Family Ministry will run every 2nd and 4th Sunday after the 12.30pm Mass in the CRC cafeteria.  Families, particularly with young children, are warmly invited to be part of this vibrant ministry run by young families in the parish who desire to foster a supportive community where families can grow together in faith and fellowship.  There will be engaging discussions on faith and family values as well as fun activities for the children. More details can be found in the bulletin.  Once again, I invite our young families to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

On Sunday afternoon, we are hosting an Afternoon Tea Information Session at 2pm for parents of our candidates for the Sacrament on Confirmation. As you know from the candidates being present for the Commitment Masses, many of our students from Saint George Preca Catholic Primary School and Christ the Priest Catholic Primary school will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation very soon. The purpose of this Information Session is to talk to their parents about the importance of the Sacrament of Confirmation as well as about our parish and all it offers to help the parents of the candidates become better disciples of Christ as their children take the next step in their journey of Christian initiation. Again, I ask you to pray for the candidates and their families at this important time.

We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
