MESSAGE ON THE 6TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR A)

Friday 10th February 2023.

My dear people,

This week, we were all shocked by the news of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The reports of more than 20,000 dead which arrived this morning moves us to tears and to a deeper realisation of our need to pray at this time. We pray for the repose of the souls of all those who have died, those who are left behind and all rescue workers who have gone there to help. As soon as ways to help financially come to hand, they will be mentioned here.

I would like to thank the people who have completed the parish survey. As at this morning, we have received 75 responses. Our aim is to receive 400 responses as this will give us many insights about the matters surveyed. We hope to close the survey on 21st February, three Sundays after it opened. I strongly encourage you to take the time to fill out the survey as it will enable us to hear your thoughts and opinions. The survey will be handed out at Mass this weekend for those who prefer completing it manually. For those who would like to complete it on-line, here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KY7G5Z7

This weekend, Fr Joel, Nimmi and several of our parishioners, will be at the Divine Renovation Conference in Sydney. This will be a time for them to hear first-hand from Fr James Mallon, author of the book “Divine Renovation”, as well as many other presenters who are steeped in the journey of missionary renewal. I invite you to pray for them and for all of us as we continue to grow in our awareness of the need for missionary renewal in our parish. You may find information on the conference via this link:  https://divinerenovation.org/draus2023/

The Society of Christian Doctrine will soon start preparing candidates who do not attend the catholic primary schools of the parish for first Confession, first Holy Communion and Confirmation. The details are available in the bulletin.

I would like to advise you that Lent starts with Ash Wednesday on 22nd February. I will be able to inform you of the times of Mass on Ash Wednesday next week.

We continue turning to our patron saint and asking for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
