MESSAGE ON THE 4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT (YR A)

Friday 16th December

My dear people,

A final reminder that our parish Carols by Candlelight will be held on 18th December (this Sunday) from 5:30pm outside the PAC of CRC (next door). You are all warmly invited to attend. Apart from carols, there will also be food and drinks, a jumping castle and face painting to entertain children and great ways to renew the bonds of friendship which unite us. We are hoping that it will be a wonderful event in the life of the parish and strongly encourage you to come in big numbers. Based on the amount of work our wonderful team of volunteers have put into the organisation of the carols, it promises to be a truly great event.

Last Saturday, members of the Leadership Team and I went to Manningham Uniting Church in Templestowe to look at the facilities there. It was amazing to see what was done with the refurbishment of their facilities. They expanded the site alongside the chapel and rooms were made available for different activities including a café and a playground outside for children to play. Again, we are in the process of deciding what we will do. Nothing has been decided yet!

The times for the Masses at Christmas in our parish are as follows:

  • Saturday 24 December | 6pm, 8pm & 12 midnight (with carols sung half-an-hour before)
  • Sunday 25 December | 9am & 10:30am only (No 12pm Mass or evening services

I again bring to your attention the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday 21st December from 7:30pm until 9pm. Fr Joel and I will be joined by Fr Karmel Borg and Fr Frank Buhagiar.

Today is the last school day for this year for our two primary schools. Fr Joel and I celebrated the Graduation Masses for the two schools yesterday and the End of Year School Masses today. Fr Joel and I likewise celebrated the Graduation Mass and the End of Year School Masses for CRC CS over the last two weeks. These are always wonderful opportunities to witness the fruit of the hard work of the communities. I take this opportunity to wish the communities of the three schools in our parish a wonderful holiday. May they come back refreshed next year for all the adventures which await them.

We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
